Fast Facts: Western Canada's first female journalist...Agricultural editor for the Winnipeg Free Press from 1901-37...Her yield estimates for Canada's wheat were so accurate, they influenced world markets...In 1909, she missed by only 0.5 percent on a 118,719,000 bushel crop...Upon her death in 1942, Mackenzie King proclaimed her "one of the greatest of Canadian women"...Terrorized editors.

  • Working woman before her time. Feminist, social activist, working for political equality alongside Dr. Amelia Yeomanns and Lillian Beynon Thomas (who should also have been nominated). One wonderful tough broad who stood up for her principles and the ordinary working woman.
