Margaret Laurence gets my vote. I grew up in a small town near Neepawa and loved reading her stories set in places so familiar to me. I've visited her home in Neepawa and the cemetary with the stone angel. I always longed to visit the far away places I read about in other books and so I thought other readers would long to see Manitoba after reading Margaret Laurence's books.
